Enjoy fossicking for our very own Killiecrankie Diamonds (Clear Topaz gemstone).

There is a designated fossicking area on the north side of Killiecrankie Bay where you can prospect for topaz.

Fossicking gear and directions are available from Margaret Wheatley at Killiecrankie Enterprises in Whitemark or call 0428 592 130.

Or contact Flinders Island Dive who offer diving, snorkelling and fishing tours for small groups.

They offer equipment hire which saves you having to bring your own heavy gear like cylinders and weight belts.

Their diving experiences include: snorkelling, where you’ll see lots of fish and marine life in crystal clear waters.

You can go scuba diving on reefs, some with caves and you can scuba over shipwreck sites.

They also offer guided dives that are tailored to your interests and diving experience.

Patriarch Wildlife Sanctuary

The Patriarch Wildlife Sanctuary is on the east coast of Flinders Island located on Lees Road, Lackrana between Middle and South Patriarch.

The sanctuary was established on Flinders Island to provide a feeding ground for Cape Barren Geese and other wildlife-in-need.

Home to a host of birdlife, wallabies, wombats, Cape Barren Geese and the Southern Blue Tongue Lizard. You can feed the wallabies and Cape Barron Geese by hand.

The Patriarchs so named by Matthew Flinders are three granite mountains on the mid-east coast of Flinders Island.
